No French election for at least a week but don’t despair, there’s plenty of excitement in Europe.
This weekend, for example, the Norwegian Roller Coaster Championships take place. It lasts a week, on six different roller coasters and the champion will be the person who lasts the longest. The aim is to be on a ride from 7am to 9pm every day – a whopping 86 hours.
Competitor Jannicke Dragvoll told the newspaper Adresseavisen: “I love roller coasters! I love anything to do with adrenaline, and after doing the world's highest bungee jump in South Africa I want even more high adrenaline experiences" Which is lucky, really.
There’s more drama in Sweden where top beauty pageant officials have taken the shock decision NOT to send a candidate to the Miss Universe contest in Mexico.
In a moment of impressive enlightenment, they say the contest is “too old fashioned”. Miss Sweden organiser Panos Papadopoulos said: "The modernization of the international competition has been significantly slower than the Swedish contest, although we see signs of change on horizon. Until the parent organization catches up we have chosen not to participate this year.”
As you’ll no doubt know, this follows revelations that the current Miss Sweden, Isabel Lestapier Winqvist, had posed in a swimsuit for the Swedish edition of men's magazine FHM. She may lose her crown. Troubled times in the beauty industry.
And also at Antwerp Zoo in Belgium where keepers are urging people to stop staring at the chimpanzees. A new set of rules was posted outside the chimp enclosure asking people not to bond with a particular male chimp named 'Cheetah.'
He was raised by humans but is now trying to get on with the apes. Continued interaction with humans was "delaying the social integration of the animal in the group," said a spokeswoman.”

why not asking Cheetah to moderate
